They were a perfect match, considered among the finest warriors of the region, and countless was the number of foes they slew together. Such powerful love is however fleeting, destined to be only quick, and she unknowingly ingested a poison made by wicked men, dead when he returned to their home.
His thoughts went to only one person, a dark queen whose champions had had their lives ended by his blade. With a swift horse he invaded her realm, rage giving him the strength to cleave apart the doors of her great fortress-home.
"A warrior turns up before me? Have you come to swear allegiance?"
He was struck by the queen's arrogant tone, almost shaken from his fury.
"I have come to avenge my love!"
The queen looked at him before standing, strutting away from her throne.
"Then strike me down!"
With a yell he leapt into an attack, sword held high for an overhead blow. She swayed aside, raven hair fluttering as his blade made a breeze. A dagger found its way into her grip and her strike was true, piercing him through a gap in his armour.
Her shock lasted longer than his, the realization her schemes had worked the last thing on her mind. A swing effortlessly cut through her neck, separated her head from her shoulders, and he took hold of it as her body slumped to the floor.
